We are back and this time it’s gonna be explosive!

This year’s KON Camp will focus on the marine environment, the maritime industry and the challenges the planet face in balancing development and environmental protection.

The economic value of the oceans and maritime industry is strongly gaining in importance. As the oceans are very large and particularly sensitive ecosystems, which need to be preserved, a balance between the use and the protection of the seas has to be found.

On this issue, this edition of the Knights of Nature Sustainability Camp (Johor) will start with a brief analysis of what to understand by maritime industry which is labelled blue economy, and a recapitulation of the main threats for the marine environment, caused by the blue economy.

The camp will challenge the participants to find a sound balance between the use and the protection of the seas, especially the need for sustainable ocean governance. Take this important journey to sustainability by being part of the Knights of Nature Sustainability Camp 2016 – Johor Edition.

What is the 2016 Knights of Nature Sustainability Camp Johor?

It’s a 3d/2N theme-specific environmental education camp crafted for university students to be inspired in both their passion and academic pursuits. Many of our camp participants walk home with a firm determination to address today’s challenges in sustainability.

Organized by not-for-profit environmental organization EcoKnights, the sustainability camp series has been running in Malaysia for three years, with different camp locations such as Langkawi Island, Alang Sedayu (Gombak), Ulu Hati (Ulu Langat), among others.

The camp has a unique passion and focus on increasing awareness of the environment by

  • leading hands-on activities, indoor and outdoor lectures, field trips, community engagements, and
  • Giving the young participants the chance to discuss amongst themselves possible solutions and alternatives to various threats to the environment.
